Bioera is a company that offers high-end biotechnological products. It is the result of constant research and development of innovative formulations based on raw materials that pass exhaustive controls before being put on the market in order to guarantee the integrity of their active ingredients and ensure the quality of their compositions.
They are biological products, consolidated by scientific rigor and certified in several lines under the Bioera brand: microbials, biostimulants, bioactivators, anticarriers, organic complexes and complementary fertilizers.
Among the numerous studies developed in the province of Huelva, Bioera provides an answer to a recurring problem in every berry and grapevine campaign: the control of Botrytis. Also known as ‘gray mold or fruit rot’, the pathogenic fungus Botrytis cinerea appears as a disease every year, causing large losses in production that can exceed 50%.
Botrytis causes large losses in strawberry production.
Bioera, specifies that the introduction of the pathogen can come from the stolons for transplanting, latent sclerotia kept in the soil (winter structures) or remains of plants from previous seasons.
This fungus is very versatile and can infect fruits, petals and peduncles. It starts after unfavorable environmental conditions and poor management practices, establishing in damaged leaves and flowers where it produces inoculum and spreads to flowers and fruits of other plants.
In the strawberrythe affected tissues eventually become covered with conidia (gray powder). At an earlier stage, brown spots and watery areas would have appeared on fruits and dark lesions on flowers and peduncles. Fruits eventually become white in color and “mummified” in appearance.
Bioera establishes a “natural strategy to strengthen the endogenous defenses of plants as an alternative to chemical control. The objective is to help in the face of the lack of effectiveness of conventional fungicides, caused by the resistance generated by them due to the high number of treatments required, the multiple life cycles of the fungus and its high genetic versatility”, they emphasize.
Combination of Bioera® formulations.
The strategy contained in the Bioera protection program against Botrytis cinerea on strawberry was obtained through foliar applications with a combination of two products: a microbial inoculant based on Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus velezensis (Bactifol); and an aqueous extract based on “Cola de Caballo” enriched with silica (Equisetomax). This combination confers a multiple action: creation of an unfavorable environment for proliferation (preventive and protective) and strengthening of the plant’s endogenous defenses (protective and phytofortifying).
Bacillus have a protective action, thicken and harden the leaf cuticle (increasing mechanical resistance to fungal oppressors) and produce metabolites that stimulate productivity and reduce stress caused by adverse environmental conditions.
Equisetum arvense (Horsetail) stimulates the natural defense mechanisms of plants and, in its formulation enriched with organic silica and minerals, acquires a high drying and fortifying power that creates an unfavorable environment for the proliferation of pathogens and protection against adverse conditions.
Remission of proliferation.
Two weeks after the first application, the infected soft areas of the fruit appear dry or dehydrated and the grey spore powder that remains agglutinated remains adhered to the skin and has no dispersion capacity. In the case of an initial infection level of 20%, it is reduced to a level of 2%.
The proven results with the application of this natural Program are:
– High reduction of the incidence of Botrytis, even in a state of high level of affection.
– Phytofortifying effect: increased plant vigor and fruit firmness and size.
– Preventive effect on the proliferation of powdery mildew.
