This is due to factors as diverse as temperature or humidity. It should be noted that when we refer to these issues we are talking about natural climates and not about controlled and regulated greenhouses.

 The cold artichoke

This season is ideal for planting artichokes if you live in areas with cold winters and cool springs. Be careful because if the temperature drops below -3.8ºC, the crop is at serious risk of being ruined. On the other hand, hot and dry climates cause the artichoke leaves to open quickly and the tenderness of the edible part of the artichoke is lost.

Fresh beets

Another possible planting is beets. It needs cool and humid temperatures, tolerating light frosts. It is important to keep in mind that when planting beets it is important to have a distance of 20cm between plants for them to develop properly.

Spring cucumber

For cucumbers the ideal is to plant them in a seedbed at the end of winter, if we do not have a seedbed we will have to wait until spring to be able to plant it. When planting, place 2-3 seeds per pot and after 5-8 days germination will begin. We must be very careful with pests and powdery mildew (a disease characterized by white spots at the end of the harvest).

Tempered tomatoes

If we live in areas with temperate climates we can already start planting tomatoes, if on the contrary our climate is colder we must wait until spring. This is because the tomato will deteriorate if the temperatures are below 16ºC or above 28ºC. The ideal temperature for the growth of this plant ranges between 20ºC and 26ºC. Also, keep in mind that this plant grows best in low humidity conditions.

Potato sprout

With potatoes we find the same problem as with tomatoes, if we live in temperate climate zones we can already start planting them, however if our area has very cold winters we must wait until spring to plant them in optimal conditions. They are a good choice because they grow fast, are productive and do not usually have many pests. In addition, this plant resists well to cold climates. When it comes to planting, we can opt for seedlings or direct sowing. In the case of opting for seedbeds we must make sure that the seedbed contains enough nutrients for the plant, is aerated and has good drainage. The seedbed option is ideal to better protect the seedlings until their development.

The cold blueberry

For blueberries the ideal is to plant them in winter, but from cuttings or seedlings that we will create with wet seeds in a pot or seedbed with nutrients and little light. These plants withstand low temperatures well, even frost, they can withstand up to -30ºC, the ideal for fruiting in spring is that in winter does not exceed 7ºC. The problem lies in warm climates, since this plant is resistant to cold, but not to heat and this could harm our plant.

Tropical bell pepper

Finally, peppers require milder and more moderate climates.
